KERANG

WITH the weather being a little more pleasing of late, the Black Duck social triples was played on a relatively clear Tuesday afternoon, with 42 players taking part.

Our numbers have been really good since the jackpot went off and we hope this trend continues into the upcoming pennant season.

The winners of the black duck were I.Roberts, P.Walters and J.Harrison with their two victories and giving them a surplus score of 31 shots.

The second game biggest margin winner was K.Watts, M.Millar and R.McKerrow with a victory by six shots.

We were lucky enough to have some visitors from Gawler in South Australia and Red Cliffs, which is just a couple of hours up the road.

I’m sure they enjoyed our greens, facilities and hospitality to the utmost.

If you haven’t engaged with the Black Duck triples, you can do so with a swift phone call to 5452 1194 on the morning of play, or by simply putting your name on the list at the clubrooms.

Speaking of lists, there is a list of prospective pennant players and we need to have your name ticked off so as to give the selectors an idea of your availability for the season.

There will be a few tournaments sneaking up on the bowls calendar, so keep an eye out on Facebook or our notice board in the clubrooms to express your interest.

As a club, it is a good idea to get away to tournaments if you can to put our club out there.

QUAMBATOOK

THE Quambatook Bowls Club recently held its presentation day, with trophies presented by president Wayne Cook to singles club champions Dale Williams and Amber Wood, 100 Up champ Mick Coleman and pairs champs Kelvin Jobling and Peter Schlitz.

A highlight of the day was the presentation of life membership to Dawn McKissack.

Dawn spent a number of years as secretary and treasurer and has also filled quite a few other roles around the club and her award was well deserved.

Sadly, we lost one of the longest serving members of our club and also a life member in Geoff Ryan recently.

Geoff played bowls for Quamby for longer than most of us can remember and he spent many years as greenkeeper, tending the green and paying special attention to the rose garden at the front of the club.

His presence at the club will be sadly missed, but he will be fondly remembered.

Entries for the Bob Wilson Memorial tournament will be going out shortly, which will be held on Thursday, October 10.
