Kerang Neighbourhood House Thursday free soup lunch is on a roll

It’s been going for three weeks now, and the word is spreading about the Kerang Neighbourhood House Thursday free soup and a roll lunch.

A grant from Gannawarra Shire Council has enabled the community organisation to fund the program that is aimed at not only providing a nice lunch but also all important social connections.

Kerang Neighbourhood House manager, Claire Fry, said they are welcoming more people each week.

“We welcome people to bring a thermos and take a flask home or if a person is unable to make it in someone can take some to them,” she said.

“If people don’t want soup, they are more than welcome to just come along for a chat.

“There is also tea and coffee available.”

Each week at least 40 people are catered for, but they have the capacity to make 80 serves of soup.

There are different soups each week, and last Thursday was loaded potato and bacon soup.

Everyone is welcome between 12pm and 2pm each Thursday at the Kerang Neighbourhood House in Scoresby Street.
