POPULAR children’s entertainers and You Tube sensation, the Mik Maks, are making their way to Kerang to perform a free concert on July 10, during the school holidays, at Kerang Memorial Hall.
The Kerang Traders Inc are hosting the performance with assistance from the Gannawarra Shire Council flood recovery funding.
Very much a family affair, brothers Joel and Al McInnes are joined by Joel’s 15-year-old daughter, Ava, on stage performing songs that have become popular through the group’s hit You Tube channel.
“Drums the Panda” is a longtime friend of the brothers, and always a popular character with the children and will be, as his name suggests, drumming up a storm.
Joel McInnes said the whole family jumps on a bus when they go away.
“Even our mother Pam helps on the merchandise stand,” Mr McInnes said.
“Although we do a lot of major events in Melbourne, we really love going Bush and going out to smaller communities and getting back to roots.
“We really love doing the show because we get to perform with family and great friends.
“We love performing far, wide and remotely.”
Al McInnes said they have other sons and daughters helping with merchandise and social media.
“It really is a big family thing,” he said.
The two former teachers grew up in the farming districts of Western Victoria and much of their music has a country and farming theme running through it.
You Tube has given the group worldwide exposure with more than six million subscribers, and they have more than six billion streams of 300 clips on the platform.
