B Grade: Slogging Hoggs set up win

Kerang vs St Mary’s Tyntynder

KERANG took on the unbeaten St Mary’s Tyntynder at home, winning the toss and opting to bat.

After a shaky start at 2/5, it was Declan Hogg who would save the day, punishing St Mary’s bowling attack and scoring a quick 50 before he retired hurt.

Scott Wishart came to the crease and steadied the ship, scoring a very well battled 31 off 76.

After a few more wickets, Hogg came in to finish what he started, batting with the old man Billy Hogg who finished the day 50 not out off 62.

Declan would finish with 80 off 67, driving Kerang to 5/212.

As Kerang defended their total, it was Jon Roberts who struck with the first ball of the innings, with Jon picking up a wicket every over for his first 3.

St Mary’s were in trouble, but a nice fight back from mark free 76 (83), who would undo himself from a Scott Wishart turner.

St Mary’s then lost 6/12 to finish all out for 153, with Adam Ridley and Jon Roberts both sharing 3 wickets each.

Barham Koondrook vs Sea Lake Woomelang

BARHAM Koondrook travelled out to Sea Lake Woomelang with a couple of fossils in Billy Turvey and the ever-green Eric Lake.

The visitors won the toss and batted first but were in trouble early with two down in first five overs.

Enter Brian D’Silva who batted for a bruising 18 not out off 76 and put on a glittering 17-run last wicket stand with Lake to finish the innings 82 all out.

At the start of the Sea Lake innings, Barham Koondrook had them 3/26.

Sea Lake won by five wickets, Brad Lake ended up with 3/22.

Best were Brad Lake and Brian D’Silva.
