Christmas fun starts early

KERANG’S Christmas celebrations kicked off on Friday with the inaugural Kerang Traders Christmas promotion launch festival.

Residents gathered on Victoria Street from 5pm to make the most of extended shopping hours and market stalls to find Christmas bargains.

There was joy for the whole family and local children were treated to free face-painting by Jenelle’s Face & Body Art and the movie The Grinch on the big screen.

Kerang Traders’ Bec Hewitt said she had been pleased with the group’s first launch.

“We felt it had been successful and well supported,” she said.

“All of the kids had a ball.”

Ms Hewitt said the promotion aimed to support local businesses across Gannawarra Shire.

“We definitely encourage supporting local business as much as possible,” she said.

“For a lot of local businesses this is their busiest time of the year.

“Local businesses support a lot of local community events and sporting clubs, so it’s so important for us to support them as well.

“We also had some market stalls, with local stallholders able to show off their wares to shoppers.”

Ms Hewitt said the launch festival was only one way to ease the stress of Christmas shopping.

“We also have Kerang Traders gift cards this year,” she said.

“In the event that you’re challenged with your gift-giving this year, there’s always the gift cards.

“They can be purchased at select stores or online via the Kerang Traders website.”
