Night to remember

COHUNA’S young people danced the night away at Cohuna Debutante Ball.

The 24 young people were presented to family, friends and guests Dennis and Wendy McGlone.

The debutantes learnt presentation dances, as well as a dance with a parent or special person in their lives over 10 weeks of training with instructors Joanne Dehne and John Hawkins.

One of the night’s highlights was the debutantes dancing the progressive jive to Tina Turner’s Nutbush City Limits.

Cohuna Secondary College principal and host Fiona Miller said the debutantes had made the community proud.

“The young people were all truly outstanding,” she said.

“All of the debutantes attend or have attended our college, some of them are out working now.

“It was certainly a proud moment for not only me, but also all the volunteers who spent ten weeks supporting these young people.

“They’ve made us all proud and should be proud of themselves too.”

The college and Cohuna Neighbourhood House organised the event.

A joint effort from Cohuna Secondary College and Cohuna Neighbourhood House, the night went off without a hitch and fun was had by all.
