Komment this week

The girls at Tailored Peach have decided to close the doors on their lovely little women’s clothing store.

They all have families and have decided they probably need a break.

To Martine, Jess and Erin, congratulations on your great efforts. It’s been a wonderful shop that has ended on a positive note.

All the best for the future.

Prior to the last Test taking place, I had written that I hope Todd Murphy gets a game and the selectors trust him.

Well he did, but the captain didn’t trust him. Cummins captained like a fast bowler. His use of spin or lack thereof shows no insight

As it was, Cummins used Murphy in ‘panic’ mode, only bowling him in the first innings when it was too late and the quickies were getting carted by Stokes, and then for only two overs. He eventually got Stokes out.

In the second inning, why wasn’t he brought on once Bairstow and Stokes were out? His use of Murphy reeked of panic, not planning. At that stage we had enough runs to give him a go.

Yep, I’ll say it – poor captaincy. And it could be this poor captaincy that ruins Murphy as a future star bowler.

Plenty of other cricket questions but where would we stop?

Shane Fleming, the sports editor for the Gannawarra Times and The Guardian, was showing his sporting prowess on the soccer field the other day when he pulled a calf muscle.

After hearing it ‘go’ he tried to play on for a minute or two but, being the team player he is, thought it best to make his way off the field.

Then late last week he had to hobble from the Safeway car park in Swan Hill to the Commercial for a team dinner, giving his moon boot a bit of a work out. All the best, Flemo.

Thing is, fellow journo Nick Moseley was also at the soccer match taking photos, saw the whole thing and … put the lens cap back on the camera. Damn, Nick! We needed action shots of the injury for a good lau… I mean, to show our concern.

Wishart’s the Jewellers have had their shop upgraded for a neat, modern look. Looks great, girls.

Hope everyone drops in for a butchers (look) and shows their loyalty to local businesses following the store being broken into a while back.

The Victoria Street works between the PO and the Kerang Optical corner have now been completed.

Not too sure how far up you are meant to park, but maybe a bollard or two in front of Gravity and LV Disposals will be put in soon, as the clothing racks won’t stop a car.

In the meantime, Gav will be at the back of the shop

It all looks wonderful and needed to be done.
