The 19th hole

Kerang

THERE was no ladies’ golf on Wednesday due to the rain.

For Thursday’s R&R Stableford, the course was inspected in the morning and was approved for play after 67mm of rain overnight. Twelve hardy (or foolhardy) players hit off. P. Lloyd came up trumps on a countback with 33 points from A. Free and T. Turvey on 31 points each. The NTPs were W. O’Neill (3rd), K. Lane (9th) and P. Lloyd (13th). It was a very welcome rain.

Saturday was the Greenwood Mugge day and, while the course was drying out a little, it still was a challenge. But with any challenge some rise to the occasion, and it proved so today with the men’s Greenwood Mugge winner being Chris Waterson (4) scoring 36 points. In the ladies’ event Mabel Spitty (17) again came to the fore also with 36 points. In the ball pool were J. Waterson (35), visitor Darryl Kelly (34), D. Wood (33) and R. Schultze, T. Turvey and G. Teasdale, all on 32 points. NTPs went to C. Waterson 5th, L. Hadfield 9th, O. Spitty 13th and R. Nesbitt 16th.
