Down the Fairways

Kerang

LADIES golf on Wednesday last week was a much nicer day for golf.

We welcomed a new player, Rowena Henry. Shirley Jenner played very well to win the day with 36 points. In the ball pool were Michelle Dillon (32 points) and Nola Robinson (28 points). Rosy Laughlin had nearest the pin on the 9th with a great shot.

Assembly at 9.30am this week for a 10am hit off. All welcome.

On a very pleasant Thursday, 19 members teed off for R&R Stableford.

Scoring was difficult looking at the scores, but Kevin Lane came out the winner from a three-way countback on 34 points. The ball pool saw P Lloyd and C Manners both on 34 points, and J Murphy on 33 points. NTPs went to J Hewitt on the 3rd, P Lloyd on the 5th, R Fabry on the 9th, T Hall on the 13th and the 16th proved hard to find.

The good weather brought out the golfers for Saturday’s event with 35 entering the Greenwood Mugge (named in honour of club stalwart Bill Greenwood).

At the top of the winner’s list, we have Mabel Spitty (19) winning the goblet with 40 points and for the men Peter Hall (13) winning the Greenwood Mugge with 35 points.

Ball pool went to J Boyd 35, A Free 34, T Turvey 34, R Dick 34, G Wyte 33, P Jones 33 and R Fabry 32. NTPs on the 3rd R Dick, 5th M Dillon, 9th K Lane, 13th C Waterson and 16th P Featonby. The Pen Award went to K Lane on 20 points.

As a matter of interest Andrew Spitty has a handicap of plus-4 and Olive Spitty’s handicap is plus-3 and younger sister Mabel’s handicap has tumbled down to 19, not bad for a family group.

The Ladies Gold Watch 4BBB is to be held on Friday, May 26, get your entries in early for this annual event.

The Golcondra Group 4 Person Ambrose is fast approaching, Sunday, May 28. Gather a team and come along for a fun day.
