Have your say on Connecting Gannawarra project

RESIDENTS of six Gannawarra Shire communities are encouraged to attend upcoming community meetings to learn about how the Connecting Gannawarra project is progressing.

Funded by the Agriculture-Dependent Community Resilience Project, the project is building on community planning work undertaken since 2008 for six Gannawarra communities; Lakes District, Lalbert, Leitchville, Macorna/Tragowel, Murrabit/Myall/Benjeroop, and Quambatook.

“It has been great to see residents from the six communities that will benefit from the Connecting Gannawarra project provide their views regarding what they see as their community’s future priorities,” council chief executive Geoff Rollinson said.

“These priorities will be collated into new community plans for each district, with these documents to help strengthen opportunities to obtain funding to make these long-term goals a reality.”

As part of the next stage of the project, community meetings will be held to enable the project’s facilitators outline what feedback has been received from each community.

“These meetings are your chance to confirm that your community’s priorities that have been identified are correct, as well as provide further feedback,” Mr Rollinson said.

“Draft versions of community plans for each participating community will be developed following these meetings, which will be available for further feedback later this year.”
