Cohuna
OUR busy week started on Monday night with our Mawson’s Triples Tournament. Winners on the night were Maddy, Colin and Tanya Black. Runners-up were Stuart, Mike and Kaye H. Thanks to Mawson’s for their continued sponsorship.
Tuesday social bowls numbers were down a little, possibly due to the tournament the previous night. Happy winners were Marianne (s), Alan and Rodney.
Midweek pennant on Wednesday was an exciting day, with Cohuna 1 and Cohuna 2 playing each other. Cohuna 3 had a tough match against Kerang 2. Results were Cohuna 2 57/9 d Cohuna 1 47/3, Cohuna 3 34/2 lost to Kerang 2 41/6.
Saturday pennant results were Cohuna 1 55/10 d Barham 1 52/2; Cohuna 2 58/11 d Barham 2 45/1; Cohuna 3A 47/1 lost Wakool 52/11; Cohuna 3B 52/4 lost Barham 5 74/10.
Only two matches left before the finals, let’s make every game a winner.
Sunday was the finals of the 60+ singles and the Novice Singles played at Murray Downs. Our club was represented by Frank Tonn and Rodney Bannister.
Frank’s match was very close but unfortunately he just missed on the last end. Rodney was in top form, easily winning the semi-final to progress to the final. Rodney won this match and now goes to Mulgrave on February 12 to represent the Murray Mallee Region in the finals. Congratulations Rodney and everyone at the club wishes you all the best in Melbourne.
Some sad news for the members with the passing of John Crichton late last week. John was a valued member of our club who ran the bar very successfully for many years. We wish to pass on our sincere condolences to John’s family. Vale John.
Don’t forget names in or out by 9.15am for Social Bowls Tuesday. Hope to see you there.
