Stolen wallet found 300km away

A MAN was found by police close to 300km away in possession of a wallet he had allegedly stolen in Cohuna.

The 26-year-old was intercepted in the Healesville area on August 12.

The man from Healesville was found in possession of a wallet that had been stolen from the Cohuna area in November 2021.

He told officers that he had found it.

He was charged with theft and other unrelated offences.

“This is a reminder of the offence of theft (by finding),” a police spokesperson said.

“If you find something that is not yours, you must take reasonable steps to locate the owner.”

Forced entry

OFFENDERS forced entry to a Kerang business earlier this month.

Police said some time between August 12 and 16, the Fitzroy Street address was targeted.
