Wet and warm weeks ahead

IT was a wet end to winter, with close to 40mm falling across Kerang in August.

With two days before spring, and signs of warmer daytime temperatures, the region recorded 38.2mm so far this month, bringing the yearly total to 296.4mm, which surpasses the 2021 total of 288.6mm.

The Bureau of Meteorology’s outlook for the remainder of August and first days of September show rainfall is likely to be above median for much of Australia away from the west, most of the tropics, Victoria, Tasmania, and south-east South Australia.

September to November rainfall is likely to be above median for most of the eastern half of Australia, but below median for western and south-west Tasmania, and parts of Western Australia along the west coast and north.

For the remainder of August and first days of September, maximum temperatures are likely to be above median for far northern Australia, but below median for much of the eastern mainland and western to inland south-west Western Australia.

The bureau is forecasting maximums in the high teens this week, with the best of the week arriving on Sunday, with a low of 3 and top of 17.
