WE would like to express our gratitude for the overwhelming community support we received since our resignation from the Gannawarra Shire Council.
We did our best to represent the interests of our community.
We leave with our integrity and principles intact.
We feel humbled by your incredible support.
Your good wishes show that our efforts were valued and recognised by the people we served.
Gannawarra has a great future.
Change is needed to support progress.
A functioning council is one that can put the community’s interest ahead of their own personal opinions and interests.
We encourage dynamic thinkers with vision, passion and drive to run for council at the next elections.
Councillors are not politicians.
They do not legislate as politicians do.
Councillors are people who have the privilege of serving their community.
We are grateful for the opportunity we had to do that.
We will continue to work for our communities through progress associations and other community groups.
We will work to see all our communities united again.
Sometimes, when a system stops listening, people who choose to disengage and step down can make the most profound and lasting statement.

Get council issues straightened out
WELL, finally the Gannawarra tsunami has hit us.
After months of bickering we now see two of our elected councillors resign.
Around 12 months ago was there not an enquiry called for?
We, the residents of the shire surely deserve straight, honest representation without the reported ‘bullying, abuse and lock-outs’ going on.
I believe a council (or rather, the councillors) are elected in good faith by the residents to do the best they can in the betterment of the whole shire.
There is no place for the antics that have been reported.
They should have taken place in the schoolyard many years ago.
During my two terms on council, sure there were debates, sometimes heated, but all were in the hopes of bettering their ridings, but I always felt that we (the council), even after a heated debate were all men (and lady) enough to sit together for a chat, cuppa, or beer, knowing we had all been there trying.
A sad day to see this happen, but, for goodness sake, get it straightened out, even if it means a public enquiry.

Morrison – a poem
Scott Morrison took a long plane trip
To have a holiday on a tropical shore;
On weekends from work he did skip,
But now he wanted to have much more
Whilst Scott relaxed, many fires began,
The bushland was burning each day,
So back to Australia the PM ran,
Saying “I’m so sorry that I was away”
“… But it’s nothing at all to do with me,
As the fires are handled by each state”;
His detractors replied, with some glee,
“Tough, ‘cos now you’re in trouble, mate”
The PM was consumed by remorse,
So he went to shake each battler’s hand —
“If needed, I’ll do handshakes by force,
To win back the votes of this land”
Poor old Scotty had felt the media’s bite,
And was scared of being left on the shelf,
He decided to fight his foes with might —
But his worst enemy was actually himself.
