THE garden beds at Koondrook Primary School were awash with colour when students completed this term’s art project.
Using recycled plastic bottles, Modroc and magic clay, the students created several flocks of colourful birds.
The students let their imagination run wild as they transformed the items into colourful avian masterpieces, inspired by the work of international artist Barbara Kobylinska.
The art project was part of a program provided by the Department of Education, via its Mobile Art and Craft Centre (MACC).
Murray Plains MACC teacher Sally Bentley, who visits once a week, is one of only eight travelling MACC teachers around the state.
Koondrook Primary teacher Cassie Altimari said the kids were very engaged with the bird making, which was hands-on and involved a lot of steps.
“The kids loved it,” she said.
The MACC program has been running for around 30 years.
