BOWLING in all divisions was called off as someone must have done a small rain dance.
However, just a bit of club news, members need to get their names in for the club championship and other events.
The bookmaker has adjusted his board and at the moment, Hoffman is the favourite. These are the others who may win:
Reade 5/1, Vander Zande – at last I have spelled his name correctly – 10/1, Bowles 10/1, Wilson 15/1, the ever Green Anderson and Bagg 20/1, Foreman 25/1, Henty, who is back in training 10/1, and the Smokey Dallas Mathers comes in at 15/1, with the rest about 50/1.
Divisions One and Two next week travel to Leitchville, while Division Three goes interstate to battle with a strong Wakool.
Cohuna Golf
THE ladies competition continues at pace with Gwen, Linda and Deanne scoring the chocolates this week.
No bowls for this group today, owing to a cup day function. Midweek pennant is still on.
Due to the Northern Carnival using our greens Monday and Tuesday of the following week, our ladies comp will be held on the Wednesday at 9.30am, as pennant is suspended.
The midweek results were most encouraging, with Division One having a good win over Barham Services, while Division Two had the most satisfying of results by defeating Cohuna.
Coffee winners were Gwen, Rhonda, Len Mathers and Alan Dunne.
The Wednesday night numbers are continuing to increase, with 30 enjoying the balmy weather.
Winners on the night were Rove McLoughlan, Ron Eckhardt and Jason Stewart, with Glenda Bowles and Max Simmonds playing out an exciting 13-all draw.
Malcolm Appleby and team score the duty chores this week.
55 and over was played with our full house of 22 sides at Cohuna in warm, but very pleasant conditions.
Only two sides won through, with honours going to Ray Opie’s side yet again. Bryan Bice from Racecourse was runner-up.
Leitchville will host this week’s game.
Pennant, as forecast, was a victim of the weather, although our Division Ones managed to complete their game at Wakool, helped by an early start.
Apparently their annual sheep races were to be run later that afternoon. Conditions by then would have been pretty heavy, the sheep were probably too easy to catch.
All rinks won their matches, with the team of Bluey Fletcher, Ron Eckhardt, Craig Whittaker and Ray Hicks notching the Bower meal vouchers, ahead of equally good wins by John Keely and Col Barton.
We must wait to see if the scores will be honoured, or reduced to shared points as per washed-out games.
On the social scene, advance notice is given for our annual dinner at the Gunbower Hotel.
This year it is a luncheon on December 1 with live music. Mick is taking names, always a top day out.
