Cohuna Golf
Ladies teams on Tuesday saw Lucy, Pat, Denise and Yvonne collect the trophies with a solid win.
It was good practice for the start of midweek pennant, but with both sides having a bye those available will have a practice game on Wednesday commencing at 1pm.
As October is Try Bowls Month, we are holding a night for new or intending bowlers on the 16th at 7.30pm, along with a hitout for our regular night players.
Bowls and guidance will be provided, with the only prerequisite being flat soled shoes.
The normal night competition fires up on October 23.
Thanks Snow and Cheryle for their cooking on the sav night on Friday evening. It was great and must have worked wonders for our pennant players, as despite a host of absentees, we lost just one rink over four matches. Well done to all, and especially those folk from Gunbower who so willingly filled in as substitutes.
Division One defeated Sports on all rinks, with Bluey having the closest game against the Patterson rink, whilst Jarred, Colin, Frank and Zac won the first of this year’s Bower meal vouchers with a win by 19 shots.
The Whites played Leitchville, recording two strong victories and experiencing one close shave, getting up overall by forty shots.
Bruce Morrison’s side did best, with a slashing 27 shot margin over Garry Hawken.
Also at home, Navy had the wood over Kerang Golf for most of the day, winning on two rinks and drawing the third.
Doug Peace finished strongly to force the draw with Peter Niall, whilst Gary Easton skippered his rink to an emphatic 17 shot win over Marlene Orr.
Bolstered by our friends from Gunbower, Division Three travelled over to Kerang and won the day, scoring points on two rinks.
Snow Baker backed up his cooking skills with a 24 shot win over Jos Coobs to set up the overall victory.
This week the Ones and Navy travel to Leitchville, the Whites have a bye and the Threes are at home to the second Kerang side.
On the home front, dates are now on the major club events list, and with plenty of advance notice there can be no reasons not to get matches completed.
Yvonne and Jarred represented the club in the State Singles at Cohuna on Sunday, with Yvonne bowing out to Jean Fairchild in the ladies final, whilst Jarred swept all before him to win the men’s section from Ian Main. Well done to both.
Kerang Golf
Saturday, October 5 saw the first round of Saturday Pennant.
Division 3 were the only winning team, defeating Pyramid Hill by 30 shots with all rinks winning.
Division 1 lost to Leitchville by 12 shots with one rink up and two down.
Division 2 lost to Cohuna Golf with one rink drawing and two down.

I know this is a new system without faxes. Could all home team managers please photograph both yellow sheets from that game on one page and fill the whole viewfinder with the two yellow sheets, even if you have to turn the camera on its side. The alternative is to send the yellow sheets with any Barham Services manager playing at your club.
