
LARGE quantities of cigarettes have been stolen in burglaries on premises in three neighbouring towns this week.
Police are investigating whether there is a link between the burglaries at Kerang and Boort early on Tuesday and another at Cohuna the following morning.
Detective Sergeant Steve Mitchell said that there is a possibility that the burglaries are linked.
An unknown offender or offenders forced their way into Fisher’s IGA Supermarket in Victoria Street early on Tuesday and escaped with cigarettes.
Cigarettes were also stolen from the IGA Supermarket in Godfrey Street, Boort, prior to opening hours later that morning.
Police have a description of a vehicle believed to have been associated with a burglary on the West End Servo in King George Street, Cohuna, shortly after 5.30am on Wednesday.
Senior Constable Dean Closter said that cigarettes and cigarette accessories were taken from a tobacco cabinet and an office.
A male offender, dressed in dark clothing, was detected on security video. Police are seeking information about a black Commodore utility, possibly a VR or VS model, with tarpaulin on the back and alloy wheels.
