HDFNL – Bombers entrenched in finals race

LEITCHVILLE/GUNBOWER will go into the AFL Victoria Community Championship bye entrenched in the top five, despite observing the bye this weekend.

The Bombers are second on the ladder following last weekend’s win against competition leaders, Huntly, but will fall to fourth due to fellow top five sides, North Bendigo and Colbinabbin playing against teams in the bottom two.

The Bulldogs are favourites to defeat White Hills, with the Grasshoppers to jump above the Bombers with a win against Lockington Bamawm United.

Huntly will remain on top of the ladder with a win against Huntly, with the Bombers’ healthy percentage to ensure the winner of the Mount Pleasant-Elmore game does not knock last season’s minor premiers to fifth on the ladder.

The break will provide the club time to assess the recovery of injured players Will Brereton (hamstring), Jason Del Santo (knee) and Tom German (quad), who were out of action by half-time of last weekend’s win.

Joel Helman (broken collarbone) will be an omission to the side that will travel to Heathcote on May 28, when the side aims for its fifth consecutive win of the season.
