KERANG GOLF
IT was a windy week on the bowling green, but social bowls continues to be well attended as the pennant season gets closer.
Sixteen players braved the conditions last Thursday to have a game of 2-4-2 pairs bowls and it was great to see friends from Barham joining in and enjoying the afternoon.
At the completion of two games, there was only one combination who won both matches, with Fraser McGuire and David Randell winning both games by a total of 26 shots.
Bryce McLeish and Terry Nolan finished runners-up with a win and a draw, and the chocolates went to Gary Borg and Steve Lange (Barham).
On Sunday, our Father’s Day group played a game of scroungers and after a play-off, Mick Pors was the winner ahead of Rob “Curly” Curtis, with the chocolates going to Bernie Beck.
A match committee meeting was held last Tuesday and it was great to see plenty of members interested in the running of bowls at Kerang by attending this meeting.
It was agreed that our club games would be scheduled to commence earlier in the season in order to get them completed in a timely fashion ahead of our presentation day and other associated events.
Our club fours will take a different format, with individual men and ladies entries being taken and teams selected randomly to form teams.
Hopefully this will help get more entries and create more interest in the event.
For more information, please see the sheet about the new format on the noticeboard.
Names for pennant (both mid-week and Saturday) and our Opening Day, Lake Boga day and President versus Captain day are needed, with members able to indicate their intentions on the list on the noticeboard.
The Pennant draws have also been placed on the noticeboard and we have all teams at home on Saturday, October 13, which will be round 1 of the Saturday Pennant competition.
