Fire station’s ‘100 plus one’

Last year was a big year for the team at Cohuna Fire Station but not in the way they expected.

It was going to be the celebration of the centenary of the fire service in the town but instead it was all hands on deck dealing with the flood emergency.

But on Saturday they will finally be able to begin the celebrations that they are calling their “100 plus one” celebration.

There will be an open day from 2pm till 4pm that will be a chance for locals to see what other emergency services also do in the area with Victoria Police, Forest Fire Management Victoria and Ambulance Victoria present.

Activities on the day will include some Virtual Reality training devices, and a tent filled with fake smoke to demonstrate what it is like to be in a smoke fulled room. The finale of the day will be a torchlight parade from the Recreation Reserve at 8pm..
