Across the Greens – Kerang

Kerang

AFTER some beautiful weather leading up to the third round of NDPA Pennant, we once again played in blustery conditions on Saturday.

Kerang 1 travelled up to Wakool and welcomed some much-anticipated points to keep in touch of the top four.

The margin in the end was 40 shots, with two rinks getting the chocolates.

Team Teasdale met their match this week in Treweek’s rink, going down by two shots to be the closest game for the day. Team Pocock saluted to the tune of 19 shots against Walker, and Hancock’s rink were triumphant by 23 shots over Main.

Kerang 2 were away to Cohuna Golf for the second time in three weeks and once again the greens rolled beautifully. Cohuna Golf 2 proved that bowls in the head are what matters, going on to record a well-earnt five-shot win.

Team Hein Fell short by seven shots to Black and Team Pascoe came up short by four shots to Trezise while Team Frantz continue on their merry way, winning by six shots.

Kerang 2 had a chance to pinch a victory, being one down with an end to play, but to no avail.

The only division home this week was the dominant Kerang 3 team who prevailed by 28 shots over the Pyramid Hill combination.

Team Theobald were victorious by two shots against Roberts and Team Adams won by seven

The dominant force that is Team ‘Bones’ Marshall played the perfect match to defeat Bennett by 19 shots.

Raffle winners were Ron Fraser from Barham and our own Don Monaghan.

Enjoy the meat trays, gentlemen.

Another in-depth look at the workings of one of our members in the great man Don Monaghan.

Thanks, Don.

As a club, could we please fill our events for fear of having them scrapped.

They are the highlight of presentation night and if we don’t fill them it makes for a dull evening.

We should celebrate everyone’s success together with enthusiasm.

So if you can spare the time, come down to the club board and put your name down for the various disciplines.

Thought for the day: Make sure you take grass and don’t end up drawing a bowl out of bounds on the narrow side. Like the scribe did Saturday.
