Cohuna Golf
NORTHERN District finals week one, and what a great result for our club.
Division One and Division Two Navy straight into their respective grand finals, compensating somewhat for the losses incurred in the midweek competition.
At Cohuna the midweek Ones met Pyramid Hill, who won on two rinks to score overall.
Well done to Gwen’s rink, our only winner finishing a solid year for all concerned.
The Twos played Kerang Golf, winning on one rink (great work the Baker team) against pretty strong opposition.
Thanks to all members who helped out to keep two sides playing competitively each week, no small task with our limited numbers.
Saturday pennant semis were held at our club, and firstly a big thank you to all who assisted in both the preparation, and then the running of the day’s bowls.
It was a great showcase for Cohuna Golf.
Division One defeated two of the Cohuna rinks quite clearly, with an inspired game by Brian Bowles allowing Cohuna to take the points against Jarred Hammond.
Bluey home by 11 and Harrison by 24 sealed the deal, both rinks bowling extremely well.
Division Two met ladder leaders Barham, and to the casual onlooker, the roles seemed reversed.
Jon Henty and side whitewashed Kim Watts by 19, to set up the win overall, but was aided by Des Easton’s one shot victory over Charlie Bagg.
After leading for most of the day, Doug Peace lost late ground to be beaten by just three.
Both sides have a spell this week, and will play next at Kerang.
At club level, our ladies on Tuesday combined remaining 100 up matches with triples.
Winners on the day were Rhonda, Val and Helen.

The top four consists of G.Valentine, K.Hocking, D.Turnour and K.Currie, with M.Appleby, S.Henty, M.Simmonds and P.Robinson making up the second four. N.Simmonds and R.Farrant are not far behind, and are assured of a game as well.
Neil Simmonds is duty team this week.
Thursday pairs saw a field of twenty chase the poultry, with the best two game winner being Alan Holmes and Barney McLoughlan.
The repecharge awards went the way of the JD’s, being John Dickins and John Pearson.
No pairs this week due to other events clashing, but back again on March 3.
On Sunday night we held the Hair and Body twilight fours, with 16 teams in attendance.
Competition was extra keen, more so due to so many clubs represented.
Winners with 77 points was the combination of Lionel and Jean Mann, and Frank and Irene Trezise, who finished ahead of teams skipped by Pat Quinn (75 points) and Ron Eckhardt (65).
A superb high tea finished off a wonderful weekend for the club.
