Ladies
Jenny Waterson (15) had another nice round on Wednesday with 35 points on a count back. Jenny has been playing very consistent golf over the last few months and improving her handicap, down now to 15.
Michelle Dillon (9) was runner-up also with 35 points. Nola Robinson (28) was in the ball pool with Jean Youl (21) on 32 points, just collecting the last ball on a count back from Meryl Cameron (13) also 32 points.
Angela Morton had the shot of the day on Chino’s 9th hole, winning a nice coffee.
Deanee Henderson has been working hard on her golf game and travelling to different courses and last weekend it was Tocumal, picking up a prize in the 2 person Ambrose with Lisa Hyme (Barham) runners up in the nett score comp.
The course is looking amazing after the welcome rain and well done to the amazing band of volunteers to clean up after the storm.
Tuesday’s Twilight Golf February 8
Numbers are slowly building for twilight golf which is good. One of our regulars, Brad Short, had probably his best golf yet, winning with a score of 35 – 6.5 = 28.5 to win from his playing partner Jordan Simpson 39 – 10 = 29. Third place went to Scott Harry 38 – 6 = 32.
Thursday Golf February 10
The rich and retired golfers had a good day of golf. The winner was Col Wilkie (13), who has played himself into some fine form lately to win with 38 points.
Second place went to our most experienced golfer in Tony Laughlin (9) not far behind on 36. In the ball pool was Doug Ellwood (23)35, Greg McNeil (20) 34 and Joe Tartaglia (15) got the last ball with 33pts. Nearest the pins were Andrew Spitty on the 3rd and the 9th, no one on the 5th, Doug Meehan 13th and Don Ross was best on the 16th.
Saturday Golf February 12
A big field of over 50 golfers braved the windy conditions to play for the Greenwood Mugge. The winner was Roger Pay (16) with a fine score of 40 points.
In the ladies section, with a few more than usual, Jenny Waterson (15) won with 33 points on count back from Michelle Dillon (9).
Ball pool was Jim Apostolelis (18) 39, John Murphy (21) and Col Wilkie (12) both 36, Casey Gillen (19), David Wood (11), James Meehan (9), Logan Keighran (5) and Ross Nesbit (11) all on 35 points got a ball each. Nearest the pins were Don Ross on the 3rd, Casey Gillen 5th, Blake Shay 9th, Gary Pay got the dough on the 13th and James Meehan was closest on the 16th. The captain also ran a 2 person multiplier and the winner of this was Logan Keighran and Jim Apostolelis with 75 points.
Andrew Spitty had the best stroke score of 72 and David Stubbs won himself another pen for his fine game.
Pennant golf started on Sunday and we played Cohuna on our home turf, but unfortunately we went down 2/1.
This Sunday we go to Balranald to take on Lalbert, so hoping for a better result there.
Cohuna
Professor Peter Courtney performed particularly well last Thursday and took out this week’s R&R event with 37 points.
Don Magick was around the mark as well with 36, followed by a pack on 35 including Greg Roberts, Bruce Bird and Hayden Bird. Peter also took the NTP on 2 as did Hayden Bird on 8.
Evan Meredith found the sweet spot on 11 and Bruce Matson played a cracker on 17.
Saturday was stroke and John Power played very well indeed with a nett 70 off 7. Murray Johnson (despite his ongoing battle with muscle control and a bad cough) also did well with a nett 72.
Greg Roberts continued his good form with 73 from Geoff Miller and Martin Ellery with 73 also. Joel Woolhouse in a rare Saturday appearance took out NTP on 2, Matt Miles from Mitiamo scored on 8, Dom Baxter gets the chance to sweeten up after seeking the pin on 11 and Martin Ellery was closest on 17.
Sunday’s numbers were down due to the heat and our pennant team playing ,but that didn’t matter to Ted Jackson as he came in with 39.
Don Magick continued his run of form with 36, then a gap to Brenton Smyth (32) followed by Dennis McGlone and Paul Reid with 31.
Robyn McGraw as the best of ladies with 34 and she was also NTP on 8.
Men’s NTP’s went to John Corry on 2, Paul Reid on 8, Hayden Bird on 11 and Dennis McGlone on 17.
Our pennant team took on Kerang at Kerang winning two of the three matches, well done boys.
Cohuna Ladies
The heat did not worry Sandra Griffiths today when she won the first Monthly Medal for the season. 91 (21) 70 nett. Not only was she the medal winner, but also won the putting competition.(23) Val Farrant was runner-up. 96 (24) 72 nett Lois Stone won the 9 hole event. (35) 16 pts, well done ladies.
NTP’s 2nd Genevieve Hare 2nd on 3rd Di Woolhouse. 8th Wendy Woods and 17th Ros Dunne.
