Kurl’s adventures down the main streets

While moving a bit of dirt the other day, it’s funny how people can go past and give cheek (and that’s without saying a word). Of course, the main culprit was one bloke that I shouldn’t name, but he drives the Lake Boga Transport van around town.

It would have been very easy to take turns on the shovel. He was obviously very busy that day.

Must admit though, it was excellent to stop and have a chat for a bit of a spell. Thanks Bruce.

Will Williamson has released a new CD.

Born and bred a Quamby lad, Will took his chances and left in the 1960s for greener pastures and travelled around the country and has now decided to return to his childhood home town.

The new CD is available at the Quambatook District Share Shop and contains a song about local Kerang legend Harry Sambrooks, of all people. Apparently Will and Harry really hit it off so Will decided to write a song about him. As everyone knows Harry, we all may be familiar with some of the lyrics, but the tune is a rippa. The song is always being played in Harry’s ute.

While you are at the Quamby Share Shop, check out the replica Ned Kelly armour on display.

All the best with the CD, Will, hope it sells like hotcakes.

Kai Lane and Krackers Messer were relaxing having a cup of coffee in the main street last Wednesday. The thought was that these two blokes would be starring in the Wandella Reserves, but while looking on the team sheet on line it was noticed that Krackers didn’t get a game. He must be saving himself for cricket.

Kai on the other hand must be pushing for a senior match.

All the best, fellas. Hope life is as good as it seemed to be last Wednesday.

Kerang Sporties have had 21 applications for their community grants.

These grants are for local, non-profit community organisations and are a wonderful feel-good story.

Speaking of the Sporties, Kerry Jardine was seen out with the spider web broom last week, keeping the place looking spick and span.

Kerry always says that I stay there talking for too long. I think she may have been implying in a not-too-subtle manner that I’d been there long enough when she started dusting around me for cobwebs.

The Reid family from Perth are currently visiting their family in Kerang. Russell and Robyn (Fenton) and daughter Tekani have been spotted out socialising in town.

Father George will be happy to see them and enjoying their company, especially as Russell was out mowing the lawn on Friday.

Russell is a leading sports journo over in Perth, while Robyn has retired from netball after 40 years. She only coaches now and works with the disabled and hits the gym with them.

Daughter Tekani is an up and coming sports star, involved in everything from netball to swimming, running, the lot.

Great to see you, guys.

The word is that Terry and Andy are chucking it in at Kerang Mechanical Repairs this Friday after more than 30 years. One person was heard to say 30 years of grumpiness. It may take a while but they will finish up once they have cleaned up a few odd jobs.

Now that these two are gone from Kerang Mechanical Repairs, Chick will have some peace and quiet. Then again, maybe not, as Allan is still there.

We all wish Terry and andy all the very best for their future. The town will miss a couple of top class mechanics.

Then Morton and Gary just across the lane out the back are also having a change of the guard.

Morto says he will retire and Gary will semi-retire. Of course, some loose ends will need to be cleaned up

Dan Stubbs is going to jump in and have a crack. Best of luck to all.
