AN exhibition of photographs captured during the 2022 floods will begin its tour of the Gannawarra Shire this month. The Busy Bees of Murrabit Gift Shop and Visitor Centre will host the popular exhibition, from 10am-2pm, on May 19, 26 and 31, and June 1, from 9am-12.30pm.
Featuring more than 100 images taken by residents, the exhibition is a snapshot of how the 2022 flood impacted the municipality, as well as a celebration of how residents responded to the second major flood event in 11 years.
“The Gannawarra Flood Reflections Exhibition was well received by the community during its premiere showing in Kerang, and it is exciting to see this exhibition travel to our smaller communities,” Mayor Ross Stanton said.
All items that feature in the exhibition are professionally presented and will be returned to contributors following the exhibition’s tour, with digital images and drone footage to be retained by council for historical purposes.
“Council is aware that community members who were impacted by the floods are at various stages in their recovery, and that feelings and emotions are a normal part of recovery,” Cr Stanton said.
“Support continues to be available for impacted residents and information will be provided as part of the exhibition if revisiting images from the floods causes concern.”
