Victorian State Concert Orchestra in tune with district

THE Victorian State Concert Orchestra will perform in Kerang next month in a rare coup for the district.

“This concert is a very rare and affordable opportunity to see and hear a live performance by accomplished orchestral musicians without the expense and travel to a distant city venue,” Kerang Music Society member Angela Ginnivan said.

“Whether you are familiar with classical music, music theatre or popular film scores, the Victorian State Concert Orchestra programme caters for all, young and old.”

Directed by acclaimed ABC Orchestra conductor Gerald Keuneman and featuring lyric soprano Veronica Iredale and tenor Nicholas Matters, the 50-piece orchestra will perform various pieces from operas and musicals.

“The Victorian State Concert Orchestra has been performing across the state for close to 100 years, and council is pleased to have partnered with the Kerang Music Society to bring this talented group to the Gannawarra,” council chief executive Geoff Rollinson said.

“Gerald Keuneman has performed with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Elton John, Olivia Newton-John, Anthony Warlow, and Sammy Davis Jnr, and will guide the current incarnation of the orchestra through classics and contemporary pieces.

“It does not matter whether you are a fan of Bach, Mozart and Tchaikovsky or musical theatre, the Victorian State Concert Orchestra caters for all interests.”

The orchestra will perform at Kerang Memorial Hall on Sunday, June 2 from 2pm.

Tickets are $10 per person, with children aged 16-and-under free, with afternoon tea provided.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.trybooking.com/CRHMM or from council’s customer service centres at Cohuna and Kerang.
