CMFNL – Stage is set

A SEASON-DEFINING two weeks of football will occur from Saturday after results went the way of the Central Murray Football Netball League’s top sides.

Five-time defending premiers, Kerang will travel to Woorinen this weekend, with both sides recording impressive wins.

The Blues – led by six goals from Scott Lockwood and another best on ground effort from Ryan Gillingham – defeated Tyntynder by 79 points.

The Bulldogs were never in the hunt as the hosts kicked six goals to two in the opening term and five goals to one in the second half.

The Tigers were just as impressive in their 71-point win against the Cohuna Kangas – the team’s ninth consecutive win.

It took to early in the third quarter for the Tigers – led by a four-goal effort from Jye Barry – to take the game away from the Kangas.

The Kangas sit seventh on the ladder, one win outside the top five, with Jack Dehne and Regan Williams best on ground in the side’s sixth consecutive loss.

Meanwhile, the Mallee Eagles remain one win off Kerang and Woorinen following a 150-point thumping of Tooleybuc/Manangatang.

The win – the Eagles’ eighth in a row – leaves the Lalbert-based team entrenched in the top five going into a key fortnight of games against Tyntynder and Woorinen.
