IN a wet game at Hay, the Lions once again proved they mean business with a nine-goal win over finals contenders Ultima.
Both teams went goal for goal in the first quarter, with scores all tied up at the first break, but like most of their games this season, the Lions took a little time to warm up but utilised their moment in the third quarter to impact the scoreboard.
The defensive efforts of Maddie Mannes and Ruby Hicks proved unstoppable, while Hay goal shooter Kellie Walker didn’t miss on her way to shooting a game-high 31 goals.
Tayla Foster was a strong leader for the young Roos, who are continuing to improve week to week, with Madison Davies shooting 17 goals to lead their attacking third.
Murrabit 71 d Wandella 30
IT was a tough day at the office for Wandella as the top side faced the bottom team, with the reigning premiers recording a 41-goal win to remain undefeated.
Murrabit again showed why they are a huge chance at winning three consecutive premierships, with Steph Reeves and Grace Gillingham named the best for the Blues for their unstoppable attack, with Reeves bringing the ball down the court and Gillingham making them count with 44 goals for the match.
Jasmine Morris and Eliza Perryman were again the standouts for the Bombers, with the one positive for Wandella being that it was again their highest score of the season, proving they are getting stronger each week.
Macorna 43 d Moulamein 35
THE Tigers returned to the winners’ list by defeating Moulamein by eight goals at Moulamein on Saturday.
After holding the lead for most of the game, the Tigers looked well in control, with Kelly Rayson and Asela Finch dominant in the Tigers’ goal circle in the 43-35 victory.
Maddy Gleeson and Zarlie Featherby produced some great defensive efforts, showing superb arms-over pressure and work rate, but the Swans found it hard to score against Macorna’s defence, where Erin Delahunty was in good form.
The Swans only managed four goals in the third quarter, the Tigers capitalising going into the last term to be up by 11 goals at the final break.
While Moulamein outscored Macorna in the final quarter, it was a case of too little, too late for the home team.
