Library program lauded

A NEWS article regarding a council recommending that all ratepayers turn vegetarian as part of their climate plan.

You have to be joking. (Double spaced to emphasise the point. I’d do it in caps but I don’t want to shout.)

Must say that I am happy to be helping vegetarians by eating the animals that eat their food.

AS part of the shire’s holiday program held recently, the Kerang Traders put on a free concert by the Mik Maks that was very successful.

The Kerang Library also organised a sleepover at the Library for the Teddys of any child who wanted to participate and then sent photos of the cuddly toys to the relevant child.

An excellent way to get the kids involved.

This is a great initiative by the shire, the library and Kerang Traders.

Well done to all.

SO some bloke had a crack at former President Trump and thankfully missed.

Although the president was only injured, sadly, there was a loss of life at this event.

Apparently the shooter’s name was C. Curnow.

The Saturday after this happened, Carlton’s Charlie Curnow kicked 3 goals 7 behind, and some local wag sent a meme wondering which Curnow was the sharpshooter.

If you didn’t have a sense of humour you would be appalled.

I’VE mentioned previously how St Kilda aren’t doing the best, and now, being a Carlton supporter, I must say that the Blues aren’t much better, although they are second on the ladder as this is written.

But the Doggies continually show they have the wood on the Blues.

The local wag mentioned above reminds this Blues supporter of their Doggies nightmare.

IN the CMFNL every teams wants to have a crack at Kerang, who just keep on getting the job done on the big day in September.

They would have to be favourites again at this stage of the year.

Word is that Kerang captain Josh Nitschke is having a ripping year and claimed another BOG on July 13 against Tyntynder.

The Kerang reserves are also likely to take out another flag this season unless coach Lefty stuffs up somehow – not likely.

WANDELLA and Macorna have had three close matches this year and will meet in the last game of the season.

Currently it’s Macorna two wins versus Wandella one.

The first match of the year saw Macorna claim victory by 36 points.

It’s interesting that in their other two meetings the scores have been 11.12 78 to 11.9 75 in both games, with Wandella having the bigger score on May 25 and Macorna winning on July 13.

The two teams are fighting for third and fourth spot on the ladder so it won’t really matter that much.

Winning the first semi-final will get either Macorna or Wandella to a preliminary final.

The team that can get into the preliminary final at least has a opportunity of pulling off a surprise victory as Hay and Ultima are 24 and 16 points clear of third spot respectively and one of these is more than likely to take out this season’s premiership.

Apologies to Murrabit and Moulamein as I’m writing them off.

Both are three wins behind the Tigers and Bombers so don’t look like making it.

THE overnight soccer-a-thon mentioned in last week’s paper went off successfully, but it was noticed that Daniel Roberts didn’t front up for work the following day after saying that he was likely to go to work so as not to upset his “body clock”.

Was going to say weak as water, Daniel, but I suppose we can excuse this slight misdemeanor.

LOCAL lad Justin Colville has been appointed the new principal at St Joseph’s Primary School following many years as an educator in Kerang.

Justin replaces Chris Mitchell, who has been as St Joe’s for quite a while and has done a magnificent job.

All the best to all concerned.

THE businesses that were either side of the shop fire in Cohuna are back up and running in new locations.

Excellent that they can keep operating in new premises.
