Lions no match for dominant Blues

Murrabit 81 d Hay 41

IN what was a top-of-the-table clash, reigning premiers Murrabit confirmed their premiership favouritism with a comprehensive 40-goal win over Hay at the weekend.

In an extremely fast-paced game, where an incredible 122 goals were scored, the Blues stood tallest to claim an 81-41 win.

Grace Gillingham for Murrabit was superb, shooting 46 of her team’s goals.

Hay tried to edge back into the contest throughout the match, making numerous changes across the court, but the Lions ultimately have some work to do if they are to contend for the premiership in a few months’ time against a Murrabit outfit that continues to go from strength to strength.

Macorna 46 d Wandella 38

MACRONA are back on the winners’ list with an eight-goal win, but not before Wandella gave the Tigers an almighty fight as they continue to chase their first win of the season.

After sticking with Macorna for most of the match, the Bombers were found wanting in the final quarter, when Tigers goal shooter Kelly Rayson shot 10 consecutive goals as her team outscored the home side 13-7 on their way to securing a 46-38 win.

Asela Finch was outstanding for Macorna, as was Emmalea Wishart, while sisters Trishelle Robinson and Hayley Higgs partnered well in the goal ring for Wandella and shot with accuracy.

Ultima 40 d Moulamein 33

ULTIMA are sitting in second place following a seven-goal win over Moulamein.

The Swans were without sharpshooter Meg Jordyn Rooney, with the versatile Hannah Morton donning the goal attack bib in her absence.

Despite losing the second half, the Roos’ great start once again got them over the line, with Ash Sanders instrumental after shooting 27 goals for Ultima in the 40-33 win.

Ultima will be desperate to hang onto second place and the double chance and now find themselves a game clear of Hay.

Moulamein are hanging on to fourth spot on the ladder by percentage only, with Macorna equal on points, as the run up to the finals begins in earnest.
