Home crowd performance

COMING back to her home town to help celebrate the Big Cohuna Festival, singer Christa Radley is “ready to put on a show” for the district.

Growing up in Cohuna, Ms Radley is one of the three fabulous vocalists for the band Amitie, who sing hits of the 50s, 60s and 70s.

Now based in Parkes, NSW, band trio Christa, Christine and Shev are almost on their way to help celebrate the Big Cohuna Street Food Festival.

Hoping to entertain locals, as well as bring “their other friends from the southern state” to the festival, Ms Radley said that the opportunity was a no-brainer.

“We can rarely resist a road trip,” she said.

“I’m looking forward to being able to perform for the community but also show the girls around my beautiful hometown.

“The area is beautiful and it’s a very different atmosphere to Parkes, so I think I’ll get a lot of enjoyment out of showcasing Cohuna and the surrounding districts.”

Ms Radley spent half of her primary school years and all of her high school years in Cohuna, before she married locally.

However, the Cohuna community never got to see Ms Radley perform, as it wasn’t until after she moved to Parkes that she started her music endeavours.

“When I moved to Parkes, I started going to a local drama society for a bit of fun, and I ended up playing one of the pink ladies from Grease,” she said.

“Shev and Christine were the other pink ladies, so we met during our drama classes and we all just fell in love with old school music – the rest is history.

“Some people might have heard me perform now as we travel quite a bit, but I’m very much looking forward to returning with the girls and having a great time.”
