COMMUNITY groups and organisations are encouraged to be prepared ahead of the application period for Gannawarra Shire Council’s 2024 Community Grants Program.
Applications for the popular program will open at 9am tomorrow (Wednesday) and will be accepted up to 4pm on Wednesday, May 1.
“For many years, community groups that support the Gannawarra’s residents have benefited from Council’s Community Grants Program, which provides funding to local events, facility improvements and projects that foster social connections,” Mayor Ross Stanton said.
“Based on feedback received over the past two rounds of the program, council officers have reviewed the program guidelines, and also the timing of the program to ensure it continues to meet the community’s needs.
“As a result, the 2024 program will open earlier than usual this year, which allows community groups more time to plan and deliver on their projects. It also ensures that any decisions made on the allocation of the funding will not be impacted by the council caretaker period as a result of local government elections in October.”
This year’s grants program will support projects, programs, events and activities with applicants eligible to apply for up to $5000 per application.
“Successful projects need to meet the essential criteria, align with the community vision outlined in the Growing Gannawarra – 2021-2025 Council Plan and must be delivered by June 30, 2025,” Cr Stanton said.
“It is strongly encouraged that interested applicants read the program guidelines to understand what is required for an application and if your project meets the requirements.”
