AUSTRALIAN singer-songwriter Shannon Noll is set to rock Barham this March for the River Daze Festival, among a diverse line-up of artists and bands.
The festival will take place on Saturday, March 2, beside the banks of the Murray River.
Local food, drinks and music will be available throughout the day and well into the night.
This year’s line-up consists of Noll, INXSIVE, ABBA tribute band The Flaming Sambucas and local Mallee musician Elias Lanyon.
Event organiser Faye Ashwin said the town was excited about having an Australian superstar headline the festival in Noll.
“We’re very excited to have someone that’s had hits in the Australian charts,” Ms Ashwin said.
“We’re very pleased to have someone of that calibre.”
This is not the first year for River Daze to host well known Australian acts.
The line-ups of previous years have included acts like Joe Camilleri, Reece Mastin, Diesel, Ross Wilson and Thirsty Merc.
“We’ve had a lot of performers in the seven years we’ve hosted the event,” Ms Ashwin said.
The festival is a celebration of what the locals of Barham and Koondrook have to offer and has been run entirely by local volunteers.
There will be local food and win, including the “River Daze Special Cocktail” made with locally grown orange juice from Koondrook.
“(The festival) has become a really strong economic driver for local businesses in the Barham and Koondrook community,” Ms Ashwin said.
“Often, the visitors will come for more than one night, staying at our accommodations, eating out at our restaurants and drinking at our pubs.”
Aside from music, food and drinks, there will also be fun activities and entertainment for children to get involved in throughout the day.
“We pride ourselves on being very family oriented,” Ms Ashwin said.
“We really love that feel about our festival. You’ve got three generations of family all in one place and it’s just very special.”
Entry for children under 17 years old is only $1, and activities like jumping castles, face painting and circus acts will be available for free on the day.
