Djokovic has been let in for the 2024 Australian Open, so we must assume that folks coming into the country are not required to be fully vaccinated.
Still think it’s good they stopped him last season.
A great win when de Minaur knocked him over last week in the United Cup in Perth.
Kurl would usually mention Warner and his retirement now, but we’ve had enough coverage of him.
He retires as a total champion, but by heck he got some air time! Some much better players have had much less.
We see that Rylan Delamare made a golden duck on the final cricket match prior to the Christmas break. Thing is he was run out.
We have to assume that he hit the ball then ran, so he did, at least, face one ball.
Hard luck, Rylan. Things can only improve in 2024.
Gannawarra Times ad rep Christine Hildenhagen has put a chip in the company car’s windscreen.
As she said, she ducked as hard as she could, but the stone still hit.
It’s interesting as you pass friends, family or workmates in the street, or wherever, it’s always polite to give a wave of acknowledgement. Tinted windows on cars may quite often prevent a confident wave.
But what was Nick Moseley’s excuse when he was taking photos and failed to acknowledge a polite wave prior to Christmas?
One couldn’t help but see him as his shirt was only paled by the sun. Must have been too busy.
Some nice shots that week too, Nick.
Kerang local Keith James Hall had a letter to the editor published in The Guardian in Swan Hill on December 22 claiming that he and a mate had “inspected” a Catalina that had crash landed on the MV Highway back in the 1940s.
The wings had been taken off the fuselage and placed under guard in the yard of a factory next door to Franzinis. As two young lads could be expected to do, Keith and his buddy jumped the fence and had a good look at the plane, avoiding said guards.
Great story, Keith.
Kerang Fire Brigade pumped 3.5 megalitres of water from the township on Christmas Day. Great effort by all local volunteers, Shire workers and other crews who helped out the township, giving up their time with family to help the town. Thank you all.
While on that, all streets were flooded south of Wellington Street. There is a small dam at the end of Marne Street, designed to help with the flooding but it’s just too small. It fills in no time.
I wonder if the old railway dam could be used to alleviate some of the problems. It’s about 20 times bigger than the one at the end of Marne Street. You’d think it would help.
Half a green bin of wood chips and other garden material was washed up onto Kurl’s block after cars caused waves.
Then there was the rain on January 2 that filled these streets up again. Water was still covering the south end of Marne street at 8am the next morning. The 68mm of rain we received in five hours took more than eight hours to disappear. This might not be good enough.
With some streets filling more than five times last year, it’s an indication that it ‘generally’ rains faster than the pumps can pump.
I realise the Shire will say it was just the intensity of the rain, but at what stage do you make a call so it won’t flood?
All the best to all the Komment readers for 2024, and as Mahatma Gandhi said, ‘Be the change that you wish to see in the world’.
Or not.
Had a quick chat with Stacker Hastie and Dasher last week and, of course, we were talking about the Kerang Races on December 30.
Dasher was completely happy with the meeting and, of course, plenty of the local committee did lots of work to make the day a success.
Sneaking in between rain on Christmas Day and a couple of other days, everything went off well with the new shade area being a popular addition to this great little club.
Congratulation to Dasher and the local committee.
Word is Stacker lost money but the lovely wife won some on a rank outsider. Woohoo.
