Wednesday Ladies Rd 1 Championships, October 4

FOURTEEN ladies were vying for this year’s Championships, with Olive Spitty (+2), firing a round of 71, giving her a net of 73 and a commanding lead after Round 1. The course was in a soggy state after the rain, so it was hard going for all. Nola Robinson (28) is on 104, followed by Angela Morton (15) and Carol Dear (27) on 77, Mabel Spitty (14) on 78, Shirley Jenner (22) on 79, Jenny Waterson (17) on 80. Medallist of the Year is Angela Morton with 92-15 = 77. Chino’s NTP went to J Waterson and Ball pool went to N Robinson, A Morton and C Dear. Next week is the Round 2.

Thursday R & R Stableford, October 5

Twenty-five players came for the day’s event and with the course still wet in many places, scoring was somewhat difficult. Chris Waterson (4) came in, along with Doug Meehan (8) and Tony Hall (16) on 34. Chris won on a countback. Ball pool went to D Meehan, T Hall C Gillen 32 and R Thouliss (visitor from Berriwillock) also 32. NTPs went to D Knight 3rd, D Meehan 5th and 9th, R Thouliss 13th and C Wilkie 16th.

Saturday 1st Round Championship Stroke, October 7

Ladies’ 1st Round of Les Jobling Trophy Stableford

J Boyd 35, G Kenedy 33, O Spitty 32, J Waterson 31, R Willoughby and C Downs 30, J Marshall 28, R Laughlin and K McKissack 25. Ball pool went to G Kennedy.

Men’s 1st Rd Stroke

Thirty-seven members contested day 1 of 3 rounds for the Club Championships. A Spitty leads with 75, C Waterson 77, D Meehan and P Lloyd 78, B Shay 71, C Wilkie and S Harry 83, D Wood 84, C Manners and L Hadfield 85, G Wyte and S Dibsdale 86.

The day’s Monthly Medal winner was Phil Lloyd 78-9 = 69.

Ball Pool went to D Meehan, S Harry, T Hall, C Wilkie, N King and B Shay.

NTPs went to M Kennedy 3rd, L Hadfield 5th, P Lloyd 9th, S Dibsdale 13th & O Spitty 16th.

During the presentations, Captain Jack presented Graham Wyte with Life Membership.
