Komment by Kurl

SOMEONE broke into a local shop in Kerang the other night. There’s been a little bit too much of this stuff going on.

The second semi-finals in the Golden Rivers league was on Saturday with the big match in the Under 14.5s being Macorna taking on Wandella.

Macorna finished as minor premiers with only two losses and Wandella were second with four defeats for the season, so Macorna would be favourites.

These teams actually played a draw in the final round of the season on August 19, so who knows.

Checking out the team lists, there are lots of great local footy names there.

One is Harrison Pearson, who will get a game for Macorna. Harrison usually gets called Harry, and obviously “Harrison” when he is in trouble. Don’t worry, Harry, we’ve all had that.

Another is Jaspa Chamberlain for Wandella. Wonder what he gets called when he is in trouble?

Saw Greg Henry in the street last week having a quiet cuppa. Didn’t get a chance to stop and chat. Yes, I know. That may surprise a few, but Kurl was too busy.

It looked like Darkie was very content with his cuppa and a newspaper to read. All the best, Greg (that would be Gregory if he was in trouble for sure).

Caught up with Freddy Grant last week and, boy, did we solve the problems of the world. As I’ve said before, Freddie, if only people would listen.

Trevor Freddy Grant played some great footy with both Murrabit and Wandella back in the day.

Great to see that you are still keeping a pretty keen eye on the local footy Freddy.

The Kerang Football Netball Club is gearing up for a pretty busy finals series this year with their seniors and reserves in top position, the Colts in second and the Under 14.5s third. B Reserve and 16 and Under netballers will also have a taste of finals this year.

Backing the senior and reserve footballers to bring home wins, although assistant coach of the reserves, Lefty, is never over confident, but hopes his team can perform to their ability.

Maybe the other getting a flag might be a bit of a push.

Brad Pay is expected to be back later in the finals for Kerang following his injury.

Reckon he should come back via the reserves? No, not really, Brad. All the best, hope you get back ok.

One of the biggest funerals Kerang has seen for many a year was held last week for Joel Fowler.

Word is it was a magnificent celebration of a life well lived, with Joel fitting an incredible amount into his short time with us.

All the very best to the Fowler family and Joel’s many friends.

Being a Carlton supporter I just want to state that I was 100 per cent behind the coach and the players all through the season.

While saying that, I will also mention that Geelong, although they haven’t had the best year, are still, currently reigning premiers
