Small school, big heart

MURRABIT Group School is a small, rural school that prides itself on providing high-quality education to students from Foundation years to Grade 6, in a warm and nurturing environment.

The school’s mission is to provide a comprehensive education that empowers students to become independent, creative and responsible citizens.

To achieve this mission, the school has a team of highly skilled and dedicated teachers who work closely with students to provide individualized attention and support.

Acting principal Gaby Hogg said Murrabit Group School had a strong focus on literacy, numeracy and inquiry skills and wellbeing, with dedicated programs and resources to support student learning in these areas.

The school also offers a range of extracurricular activities to enrich the student experience, including music, sports and Italian.

“One of the unique features of Murrabit Group School is its commitment to sustainability and environmental education,” Ms Hogg said.

“The school has a large vegetable garden that is tended by students, and the produce is used in cooking and selling at the school gate fundraising for camps.

“Students also participate in regular waste reduction and recycling initiatives though Sustainability Vic and have recently joined the River Detectives Program.

“The school has a strong connection to the local community, with regular events and activities that involve parents and community members.

“This helps to create a supportive and inclusive school culture, where everyone is valued and respected.”

Ms Hogg said the school also had a strong focus on technology and the development of digital literacy skills with safety in mind.

“Murrabit Group School is a small rural school with a big heart.

“The school’s commitment to high-quality education, sustainability, and community engagement makes it a special place for students to learn and grow.

“Come and look around next week at the school’s open morning with Biggest Morning Tea to follow on Monday or join in with the community versus student match on Friday.

“Come and join our amazing little school with excellent achievement and balanced lifelong learning opportunities.”
