KERANG

Ladies Stableford – Wednesday, May 16

ON a very good day for golf, 10 ladies entered the day’s competition, with the winner being Rowena Henry (44) after scoring 37 points.

Finishing second was Jan Harry (10) with 34 points and in third was Joyce Boyd (28) after scoring 33 points.

The nearest the pin on Chino’s 9th hole was Rowena Henry.

R & R Stableford – Thursday, May 15

IT was another great day for golf, with 22 members entering the competition.

The best score for the day was Chris Waterson (3) who scored 40 points, while the ball pool went to Gary Pay (20) with 38 points and Casey Gillen (17), Gavin Teasdale (14) and Peter Jones (17) all on 35 points.

The nearest the pins were won by C.Waterson (3rd), B.Shields (5th), A.Free (9th), T.Laughlin (13th) and C.Gillen (16th).

Saturday, May 17

29 members and guests played in cool and windy conditions, with the ladies winner being Louise Mudgway with 37 points and the men’s winner being Allan Free with 38 points.

The ball pool went to C.Dear and D.Wood with 37 points and K.Chase and R.Nesbit with 35 points.

The nearest the pins went to P.Hatton (3rd), D.Henderson (5th), L.Hogg (13th) and B.Shay (16th).


VETERANS

TUESDAY morning, bright and early, saw 34 veterans from Barham, Cohuna, Kerang, Lakeside, Murrabit, Manangatang, Mooroopna, Murray Downs and Tooleybuc contest the annual Northern District Veterans Golf Association grass greens championships, which was played as a Stableford round.

The ladies winner was Carol Dear from the Kerang Golf Club, who finished with 39 points, while the runner up was Lorraine Howard from the Mooroopna Golf Club with 36 points.

The men’s winner was Rob Male from Murray Downs Golf Club with 39 points, while the runner up was Ian Gammon, also Murray Downs, with 36 points.

The nearest the pins went to Joyce Boyd and Dennis Pretty (3rd hole), Amanda Male and Ian Dodd (5th hole), Lorraine Howard and John Manser (9th), Amanda Male and Graeme Bray (13th hole) and John Manser again on the 16th hole.

After a wonderful lunch prepared and served by the lady members, presentations got underway, with Kerang Golf Club volunteer workers also thanked for the presentation of a great course.
