Ladies Golf Wednesday, January 4

Nine ladies had a hit on Wednesday and enjoyed the cooler weather.

Shirley Jenner (20) had another good round with 35 points, to drop another shot off her handicap. Rosie Laughlin (35) lost on a C/B after swapping her bowls for golf clubs. Jean Youl was in the ball pool.

Lorraine Bray was happy with her note pad to go with her new pen.

Angela Morton won the Chino’s NTP 9th and Jan Harry has also been working hard on her golf to get her handicap down to 11.

Monthly Medal this week and the winner to choose the new shirt colour for the year. Happy golfing.

Captain’s Day, January 2.

A 4BBB any combo, sponsored by the Captain, and with a good turn out the winners were Peter Jones/Phil Lloyd with 44 points on c/b from Gav Teasdale/Dave Gray.

Mixed winners were Scott/Jan Harry with 43 pts from Doug Meehan/Bron Good 42. The ladies winners were Karyl Hewitt/Toni Kilderry 38 pts from Michelle Dillon/Chrissy Downs 37.

Nearest the pins were Phil Lloyd 3rd, Terry Turvey 5th, David Wood 9th, Karyl Hewitt 13th and no one landed on the 16th. Nearest the line on the 4th hole were Shirley Jenner (Ladies) and Kevin Sambrooks (Men).

Longest drive on 18th were Michelle Dillon, Ladies and Jack Hewitt Men.

The winners of the prestigious pen award were the combo of Peter Wright/Josh Free.

Thursday R & R Stableford, January 5.

A huge field of golfers for our R & R Day and the winner was the youngest bloke on the course Luke Hadfield (12) with 39 points, just pipping Terry Turvey (13) by one point.

The ball pool was Terry Turvey, Graham Wyte (12), Mark Henderson (29), Chris Waterson (4) and Ron Schultze (22) all of them on 36 points. Best of the short holes were Chris Waterson 5th, Brendan Shields 9th and 13th, Andrew Spitty 16th and no one found the 3rd green.

Saturday, January 7.

The Monthly Medal was played and won this month by the most inform man of the moment in Mark Henderson (28) with a net 65.

Ladies winner was Jan Harry (12), who has been playing very well lately, with a net 71 from Michelle Dillon (9) on net 72.

Ball pool was James Meehan (11) 66, Gary Pay (16) and Ross Nesbit (12) both on 68, Col Wilkie (10), Peter Wilson (17) both on 69 net Dave Gray (15) who had an eagle on the 2nd hole, 70 and Ron Schultze (22), Kevin Sambrooks (17) and Wayne O’Neill (21) all on 71 net.

Nearest the pins were Jason Williams 3rd, Chris Waterson 5th, Chrissy Downs 9th, Graham Wyte 13th and Gary Pay on the 16th.

We have the Laughie 4BBB on January 22 and the Autopro 4 Person Ambrose on the Australia Day Holiday, so golfers organise your teams for those days.

As mentioned earlier Dave Gray had an eagle on the 2nd on Saturday, but Chris Waterson went one better on Sunday at Murray Downs and had a hole in one on the 11th.

Hope to see all you golfers this Saturday at the club for the Greenwood Mugge and the Ladies Goblet.

Ladies Wednesday, December 21

Jill Marshall (33) has been doing a bit of practice lately and had a great score of 41 points, which resulted in her handicap reducing by 2 strokes. Runner-up was Rhonda Willoughby (26), who finished with 39 points.

Olive Spitty is off scratch and finished with 36 points, with her drive on the 15th 246 metres and finished on the green to have an eagle and a birdie on the 16th. Shirley Jenner (20) also had 36 points.

Olive also won Chino’s 9th NTP voucher. We had a mystery pairing with Rhonda and Olive taking home the chocolates.

Congratulations to the band of workers at our club who put in many voluntary hours, to keep it ticking along. If you can come out and help, there is always something to do.

Thursday Golf

R & R Thursday saw Ron Schultze (25) hit some hot form in the hot weather to win the day on 42 pts on c/b from Joe Tartaglia (15).

In the ball pool we had Joe, Graham Wyte (13) 39, Mark Henderson (30) and Kevin Sambrooks (18) both on 38 pts.

Nearest the pins were Graeme Brierley 3rd, Pat Featonby 5th, Doug Meehan 9th and Ron Schultze 13th and no one landed on the 16th.

Saturday, December 24

The winner again had to be decided on c/b and that was James Meehan (12), of Lalbert, on

38 pts from Col Wilkie (11). We only had four ladies play and three of those ended on 35 pts each and the winner was Chrissy Downs (28) from Jan Harry (12) and Michelle Dillon (10).

The ball pool was Col Wilkie, Ron Schultze (23) and Joe Tartaglia (14) on 36 and Jan Harry.

Best on the greens were Ken Williams 3rd, Kevin Lane 5th, Laine Harry 9th, Doug Meehan 13th and John Dee on the 16th.

Max & Gav Day 2 Person Pinehurst, December 27

Max Wilson Tyres and Batteries Day Pinehurst was well attended by over 20 pairs and overall winners were Kevin Sambrooks and Wayne Hall with 76–15=61 and the runner up was Ron Schultze and Col Wilkie 77–12.4=64.6.

In the mixed section Scott and Jan Harry had a good win with 77-9=68 over Andrew and Olive Spitty 68+2.6=70.6. Ladies winners were Michelle Dillon and Shirley Jenner 84–11.2=72.8.

Of the novelty events, Nearest the line Ladies was Mabel Spitty and Men’s was Kevin Sambrooks, the longest drive Ladies was Olive Spitty and for the Men Col Wilkie. Nearest the pins were 3rd Col Wilkie, 5th and 16th Jack Hewitt, 9th Graham Wyte and 13th Donna Grant.

Thursday Golf

Over 30 golfers turned up to enjoy warm weather on the golf course.

Winner on c/b with 40 pts was Captain Jack Hewitt (12) from Gav Teasdale (12). The ball pool was Gav, Chris Gray (14), Mark Henderson (29) and Graham Wyte (12) all on 39, Joe Tartaglia (13) and Jan Harry (12) both on 38.

On the greens it was Anthony Robertson 3rd, Jack Hewitt 5th, Doug Meehan 9th, Terry Turvey on the 13th and 16th.

Saturday, December 31

The last day of golf for the year was a hot one and Col Wilkie (11) had no problems with the heat winning with 42 pts, not far behind was Wayne O’Neill (22) on 40 pts.

Ladies winner was Michelle Dillon (10) on 39 pts from Chrissy Downs (28) 38. Ball pool was Wayne O’Neill, Kevin Sambrooks (17) 40, Scott Harry (12), Roger Pay (13) and Gary Hayes (17) all on 39 pts and Chrissy Downs on 38.

Nearest the pins went to Col Wilkie 3rd, Scott Harry 5th, Terry Turvey 9th and Michelle Dillon on the 13th and 16th.
