THE R&R crew at Cohuna has recently seen some younger members coming out and enjoying the camaraderie on Thursdays which is great to see. One of those scooped the pool last week, with Rhys Bradley scoring best on a fairly wet day with 37 points, a good margin from Brian Roberts on countback from Norm Cue with 34.
Rhys took the nearest to pins (NTP) on 2 and 8, with Dennis Griffiths taking the prize on 11.
A very strong crowd endured some heavy showers on Saturday where Kevin Crane came in with nett 71 from John Dickins on countback from Gary Valentine on 72.
Robert Johns and Evan Meredith both had good days with 73. Gary Valentine will always remember August 20 as he had a brilliant eagle on the 16th. NTP went to John Power on 2, Brenton Smyth on 8, Kevin Crane on 8 and Murray Gregg on 17.
Nathan Orr took out the men’s stableford on Sunday with 37 from Dale McGraw on 34. For the ladies, Marg Winship scored best with 34.
In the mixed knockouts, we are down to the last four pairs with Jennie Goulding and Garry Hooper playing Liz Thynne and Trevor Farrant and the other match sees Marlene and Hayden Bird playing Robyn McGraw and Dennis McGlone.
KERANG
Ladies Wednesday on August 17
A good field of 13 set off in very cold conditions. Angela Morton had a sizzling day with 40 points, despite losing a ball to the water.
In the ball pool was Meagan Taylor, Jenny Waterson and Shirley Jenner. Michelle Dillon was NTP on the 9th and scored a birdie.
Michelle Baker did a couple of trick shots with the ball, landing behind the tee and one in the water.
However, her accurate chipping saw her hit the flag several times. Rhonda Willoughby played her ever consistent game with a lovely par on the 8th.
Hope to see lots of players next week.
R&R Stableford on August 18
Fifteen brave golfers headed out to play on a wet day, unfortunately five of them didn’t like the showers that persisted during the afternoon so only 10 finished.
The winner for the day was Tony Laughlin (10) on 36 pts and runner-up was Joe Tartaglia (16) 35. NTP were Tony Laughlin on the 9th and Jack Hewitt on the 16th and, unfortunately, no one managed to land on the others.
Stableford on August 20
A very nice day for golf Saturday saw 18 players take to the course and the men’s winner with a great score of 41 pts was Rob Stevenson (29).
Jan Harry (16) found some form to win the ladies with 36 pts, runner-up to Jan was Rhonda Willoughby (25) 32, must have been the Milo drink in her flask that helped her through the day.
Best on the par 3 were Ross Nesbit on the 3rd and 16th, Terry Turvey 5th, Ken Williams 9th and Scott Harry got the money on the 13th.
The ball pool was Jack Hewitt (13) 37, Tony Laughlin (10) and David Wood (9), both on 35, and Col Wilkie (12) got the last ball on c/b from Scott Harry (13) with them both on 34.
