When all the small workshops in the small towns such as Piangil, Quambatook, Lake Boga, Nyah, and Ouyen were closed down in the 1980s it was transferred to Swan Hill. As well as the outdoors staff, they had 3 carpenters, 2 full time storeman as well as bailiffs servicing the district. As time went on the early 2000’s the workforce was reduced to approximately 35.

Today the open channel system as we used to know, it is now piped, saving water and labour. A fair portion of the Western Region was previously managed and maintained by the Goulburn Murray Water and is now being managed by Grampians Wimmera Mallee Water. At one stage, when GMW had separate administrative offices, they employed over 100 people out of the 2 complexes.

With the amount of projects in progress in the Swan Hill and Gannawarra Shire it has installed much confidence in our northern region, so properties like this should be in great demand for the future.
