Cohuna
THE Cohuna Division 1 team got up by four games in a drama filled grand final match at Barham on Saturday.
When Paul pulled a calf muscle in the first set there was much “discussion” regarding the rule when there was no emergency named to play in his remaining two sets.
Cohuna got off to a slow start, losing two of the first three sets, to be down by two games. They then won the next two sets to be up by six games. With Leah playing as a man the only way to get the match finished, she played with Harrison to lose 8-2. The last ladies was then played with a win to Cohuna 8-1. Up by seven games with the number one mixed and Leah and Jason to play. After a long tussle, the men’s set went down 8-1 and Harrison and Shirlene won the mixed 8-4 to be up by four games overall.
Well done to Shirlene and Mary for winning all their sets, and to Leah for battling hard in five sets for the day.
The junior team battled hard all day against Gunbower who had been on top all year. They won two sets in the singles to be down 41 to 22. They also won two sets in the doubles with Gunbower up 43 games to 23, and Gunbower winning by 39 games.
Well done Zephan and Lachlan on winning two sets each for the day.
Easter Tournament
With Easter only two weeks away, the club is still very short of workers in the kitchen over the Easter weekend. Duties are making sandwiches/wraps etc, and you will be working as part of a supportive team. Shifts are about three hours long, but we will appreciate any time you can give. Donations of sweets or slices would also be appreciated as we are only a very small club running a four day tournament.
If you have any questions or are willing to assist, please call/message 0412 031 422 or Mary 5456 2384.
Anyone interested in playing in the tournament can enter online via the Tennis Victoria website or email their entry to cohunatennisclub@gmail.comMurrabit
