R & R Stableford – Thursday, March 27
Thirty members and guests played, with K. Lane having the best score of 39 points.
The ball pool went to J. Pay (38 points), G. Wyte and K. Sambrooks (37 points), W. O’Neil (35 points) and D. Wood (34 points – via countback), while the nearest the pins went to C. Wilkie (3rd), S. Dibsdale (5th), K. Sambrooks (9th), P. Jones (13th) and D. Wood (16th).
Stableford – Saturday, March 29
A good turnout of members, with the ladies winner J. Youl with 32 points and the men’s winner J. Meehan Snr with 36 points.
The ball pool went to G. Wyte (35 points), J. Clark, C. Waterson (34 points), B. Shay (33 points), R. Schultze, L. Hogg, D. Wood and T. Hall (32 points), while the nearest the pins went to L. Hadfield (3rd), R. Pay (5th), J. Pay (9th), J. Meehan Snr (13th) and C. Waterson (16th).
The annual Cohuna Cup/Waverley Shield was held at the Cohuna Golf and Bowls Club on Sunday, March 30, with representatives from many golf and bowls clubs throughout the district taking to the bowls greens and the golf course.
The Kerang Golf Club entered two teams in the golf section, with team one, consisting of Doug Meehan, Ron Schultze and Brendan Shields declared the winners with 103 points, while the second team of Col Wilkie, Tony Hall and Chris Waterson finished as runner’s up with 102 points.
In the bowls section, Kerang also had two teams entered, with team 1 finishing as runner’s up, in what proved to be a truly great day for the Kerang Golf Bowls Club.
