KERANG South Primary was abuzz with special visitors when the school marked its annual grandparents day recently.
The visitors took tours of the school and joined in with classroom activities.
Among the activities was an Ask Gran Not Google project, which saw students prepare questions to put to their visitors.
Principal Lyn Veall said the activity was part of a project developed by a not-for-profit group to encourage children to seek the wisdom and life experience of older adults before searching the internet for answers.
Grade three student Chase McKenzie asked his grandma, Angela Roney, about the Kerang cemetery and also about her own schooling.
Chardae Lane also wanted to know about her grandmother’s school days, asking Gwen Lane what sports she used to play.
While the sports haven’t changed much over the years, Chardae found out that some of the equipment had.
Ms Lane said as a teenager she enjoyed netball but she also played cricket.
“We used to cut a bat out of some wood,” she said.
Ms Veall was very happy with the “amazing turnout” for the day, which aimed to give children a sense of the valuable role older family members can play in their lives, as well as in the community.
