A DEVOTED Gunbower grandmother will spend Good Friday doing her bit to help support the Royal Children’s Hospital.
Sue McGillivray and her team at the Workshop Coffee Shop will provide a Devonshire tea on Friday, March 30 to raise funds for the hospital’s Good Friday Appeal.
Country musicians, Betty and Don will perform during the morning, with Devonshire tea to be served for $10 per person.
Proceeds from the morning tea, as well as the purchase of raffle tickets throughout the day, will be donated to help the hospital’s efforts in providing the best medical treatment.
Mrs McGillivray was inspired to help support the hospital a decade ago after her grandson, Jakobi Robinson was born with an interrupted aortic arch and several holes in his heart.
Jakobi, who recently celebrated his 10th birthday, underwent two open-heart surgeries at three days old, with a third surgery occurring nine months later.
“During the first year of Jakobi’s life he spent three months either at the hospital or at Ronald McDonald House,” Mrs McGillivray said.
“I have eight precious grandchildren and you do not know when any of them need to use the hospital.
“Seeing what Jakobi went through really opened my eyes to the great work the Royal Children’s Hospital does.”
