PREPARATIONS are on track for the Boort Trotting Club cups meeting on Sunday, with plenty of action for punters of all types.
Gates will open from 12 noon with free admission and race books, with the Minister for Racing, Martin Pakula to officially open the two new horse washers on-site at Boort Park.
The Kid’s Corner will have plenty to keep the little ones busy too.
Boort District School will run Canadian-style yabbie racing competitions, and there will be race book prizes for kids, pony trots and a crocodile jumping castle.
The races themselves will bring the heat, according to Boort Trotting Club president, John Campbell.
“Preparations are going beautifully. We’ve got a large number of horses nominated and some very good performers in the main races – the Cr Neil Beattie and Family Boort Pacing Cup and the The Honourable Peter Walsh (for the Nationals) Trotters Cup,” he said.
Fashions on the Field is shaping up well too, with six categories for entrants and a $500 prize for the Lady of the Day.
Race book prizes include a five-day Gold Coast holiday for two.
“There will be exciting vocals and music from Em and Ben, and a special community effort from the Boort Amity Club – a gold coin or more collection for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal,” Campbell said.
The day will finish with Blast After the Last happy hour in the new sports bar.
