HOT WEATHER is set to impact the resumption of summer sport this weekend following the mid-season break, with one competition already postponing games scheduled for tomorrow.
The Loddon Valley Tennis Association has already moved its scheduled round 11 split round matches involving Bears Lagoon, Calivil, Lake Meran and Yarrawalla to January 13.
The Northern District Bowls Division and Northern District Cricket Association will confirm their arrangements for tomorrow’s matches later today, with organisers to implement their heat policies for the first time this season.
Local lawn bowls matches will still occur if the maximum temperature predicted for tomorrow remains above 40 degrees when the Bureau of Meteorology’s afternoon update is issued later today, with start times moved to 9.30am.
If the predicted maximum temperature is 41 degrees or above, the NDCA will implement its new heat policy, which came into effect in late September.
The maximum temperature for the revised policy is two degrees lower than the previous benchmark of 43 degrees, which last saw the cancellation of matches in December 2015.
