COMPETITIVE model plane flyers came to compete at the Cohuna Model Flying Club’s 40th anniversary competition last weekend.

Competitors came from all over, including interstate to celebrate the anniversary.

About 30 competitors controlled their planes from the ground, which zoomed around the Cohuna Aerodrome at speeds of over 350 kilometres.

The Cohuna Club is one of the founding clubs of the Victorian Miniature Pylon Racing Association, and vice-president Robert Taylor said that that Gannawarra Shire Council had been a valued supporter of the club.

“We bring a lot of people into town and they have been very good to recognise our efforts over the years,” he said.

The day was a practice competition for the 2018 world championships, which Australia won gold in at the previous championships.
