Street works progressing

THE transformation of Kerang’s central business area into a community meeting place continues.

Work crews have started the second stage of the $750,000 Victoria Street redevelopment, with attention turning to an altered roadway linking the areas between Patchell Plaza and the town’s post office.

Efforts to complete the project – which is part of an overall multi-stage plan to enhance the commercial area and to upgrade linkages from the railway station through the shopping centre to the highway entrance and Atkinson Park – began in mid-June.

One completed, the revived Victoria Square precinct will feature a shared zone which gives priority to pedestrians over vehicles, as well as custom timber bench seats, grassed elevated pods and in-ground lighting.
